ESGmanagement

We practice corporate social responsibility for sustainable growth.

  • SF6-Free GIS development

In April 2021, we succeeded in developing a gas insulated switchgear (GIS, 170kV 50kA 4000A) based on our technology developed over four decades.

We are taking a preemptive response to the movement to reduce SF6 (sulfur hexaflouride) usage in advanced countries starting by replacing SF6, which has a global warming effects 23,900 times higher than CO2, with NOVEC gas, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions by about 99.2% compared to existing products.

Starting with SF6-free GIS, which we have developed using 100% of our own technology, making us the first company in Korea to do so, we will continue to strive to develop various eco-friendly GIS products.

  • ECO Transformer
    Eco-friendly transformer

Mineral oil, which is a conventional insulating oil, may cause serious environmental pollution in the event of an oil leakage accident. Through preemptive technology development, Hyundai Electric has secured eco-friendly transformer technology using eco-friendly insulating oil (vegetable/synthetic) that has excellent flame retardancy, is easily decomposed in the air, and is non-toxic, and we have delivered this technology to numerous organizations.

Not only have we secured eco-friendly competitiveness, we guarantee excellent stability and performance with our existing core technologies such as insulation design and cooling design. It is also possible to simultaneously apply our Dynamic Pressure Resistant System (DPRS) technology.

In the future, we will spare no effort or investment in the development of eco-friendly transformers in order to contribute to ensuring a sustainable future.

  • ECO Generator
    integrated engine shaft generator

In November 2020, Hyundai Electric developed an engine mounted generator (EMG), an integrated large engine shaft generator for ship propulsion.

This product is a new-concept generator that is directly connected to the ship propulsion engine, and it requires a smaller installation space than conventional shaft generators, allowing for more efficient use of ship space. In addition, when the shaft generator is installed, fuel use of the entire ship propulsion system can be reduced by about 2-3% compared to others, making it our representative eco-friendly product that can reduce carbon emissions by about 4-5%.

  • ESS electrical system
    engineering technology

Hyundai Electric has secured energy storage system (ESS) engineering technology based on our energy management system (EMS) and comprehensive engineering capabilities.

ESS is an eco-friendly system that can reduce potential environmental pollution such as unnecessary expansion of power generation facilities by preventing unnecessary power use through energy efficiency.

We plan to continuously develop ESS solutions capable of reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy efficiency in line with the trend in which ESS is being applied to various fields through convergence with ICT technology.
